VILLAR BITES OCAMPO’S BAIT

Bayan Muna Representative Satur Ocampo finally succeeded to create an alliance with Senator Manny Villar as the Nacionalista Party (NP) formally announced the inclusion of the former as part of their senatorial slate for the upcoming 2010 elections. Ocampo had been offering two million guaranteed votes to the presidential candidates in exchange of five cabinet positions and a committee chairmanship in the Senate – it was only Senator Manny Villar who embraced the offer laid by Ocampo.

Who would have thought that Villar would fall for Ocampo’s proposition? Ocampo along with Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño and Gabriela Representive Liza Maza has publicly gone out on the streets to protest against the malversation of people’s funds by corrupt officials, including Villar. Filipino people should be alarmed as former enemies become best of friends because if principles are forgotten for the sake of politics, Juan dela Cruz should wonder what else would be forsaken.

Ocampo’s consecutive terms in the Congress only made him greedy to get hold of a higher position in the government. What could he possibly contribute for his fellow Filipinos? He had been actively seen in different rallies here in Manila as well as to different provinces all over the country. He has been vigorously hosting and supporting different events that would lead to the ruin of the present administration. As a representative, he faced a lot of charges that was exposed from within Bayan Muna. If this is the kind of ruling he had in BM, then it is very possible that he would likely resort to anything if he assumes a seat as a senator in 2010.

In the first place, is Ocampo the kind of senator that people should vote for? Aside from his lackluster performance in decision making, he is clearly associated with the CPP-NPA-NDF. Add that to the existing progress on the created alliance by Ocampo and Villar, this proves their eagerness to get hold of power and try to do anything and everything just to obtain their personal political objectives for the 2010 elections.

Are they the kind of politicians the Filipino people would want to lead the country?
