VILLAR TIES-UP WITH A KILLER

Evacuees in Southern Philippines are still gripped with hesitation to go back to their respective houses even though they were told by local government officials that peace and order in the restive region have been gradually improving.

Noraima Limpongan, 24, a resident of Brgy. Alonganen, a riverside barangay of Datu Piang, Maguindanao said she could have lost her child had she insisted to stay at their home during the attack of the renegade Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) group last year. “I was due for my eldest son that time when armed MILF occupied the riverside barangays of Datu Piang last year. My parents told me to leave the area before it’s too late. I would have not celebrated my birthday last week and I would have not given my son a life he deserves had I opted to stay at our house”, says Noraima who gave birth at the evacuation center in Datu Piang.

According to the latest report of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) or evacuees as a result of the military offensive between the government and moro rebels is put at 250,000 individuals or 61,452 families. Of this figure, almost 149,000 individuals (37,400 families) are inside the evacuation centers of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Datu Piang, Guindulungan, Talitay, and Talayan all of Maguindanao while almost 97,000 individuals (24,052 families) are house-based or outside the evacuation centers (stay at their relatives in nearby areas). To date, to most of these displaced villagers who stay in various evacuation sites, returning home is still a luxury.

In fact, Norhata Sawal, a pregnant woman who stayed in a roadside tent for make-shift shelter near Datu Piang town proper, said over the month, she went back home every five days as long as the fighting receded a bit. But she only dared to stay in the house for no more than five minutes. "Houses were burnt and occupied, MILF forces were around. I am so frightened and really don't know when I can return." Sawal, who is five months into pregnancy, said she was not even sure whether she could have the baby born in her home.

Hardest hit by the fighting and mass exodus of people is the town of Datu Piang (formerly Dulawan). With this figure, practically one-third of the people of this province are displaced and in evacuation centers. Reports further said that the condition of the IDPs is steadily worsening due to lack of food and medicines, lack of good supply of water, poor hygiene, and the coming of the rainy season.

With this, pool of local executives in Maguindanao province lambasted the continuous threats posed by members of the MILF against their constituents saying that such was indeed a devious act and “un-Islamic”. Meanwhile, various local and international aid groups appealed to the MILF to once and for all put to stop looming atrocious activities so that displaced people could return to their respective houses and do their usual routines.

The government and various humanitarian organizations have already extended billions of pesos to assist the IDPs in Southern Philippines. Accordingly, the European Union through the government has been providing humanitarian support to IDPs in ARMM since 2008. They have already extended some 7.7 billion pesos to include also aids and assistance provided by the World Food Programme (WFP), International Committee on the Red Cross (ICRC), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Save the Children, International Organization for Migration and the United Nation’s Act for Peace Program under the Strengthening Response to internal Displacement in Mindanao (STRIDE-Mindanao) Project.

NP IS WORTH 2 MIL SHAM VOTES?

“Ocampo Swindled His Senatorial Debut”

Nacionalista Party having been tipped –off by a meager 2 million vote is a sight for sore eyes. Bayan Muna’s Satur Ocampo, who have dumped his militant life to gain higher political post, was just the right ingredient to deliberately hoodwink the NP Party to a sham “command vote” coming from Bayan Muna members. In fact, instead of solidifying a voting bloc Ocampo with his lapses of judgment had “divided” BM’s support source. Thus, this nails the rumors true about Ocampo having being thrown-out from BM on grounds of his inconsistent stand against TRAPOs.

But obviously the mutiny in Bayan Muna remains under the rug as NP stalwarts take in Ocampo with a “leverage” that is far from “true”. Besides, how can Ocampo keep his “control” over BM when it was known to most that he had sworn to “sell” it for a coveted senate seat? The consecutive terms in the Lower House surely made a mad man out of Ocampo. It enticed him to salivate over higher positions that require dumping his former comrades and actually be in servitude to TRAPOs he formerly disliked.

Communist maneuvering includes crude sacrifices. This explains why a series of purging or cleansing massacres have been executed under the 40-year old CPP-NPA. Ocampo having been one of the identified CPP leaders who validated and ordered the riddling mass killing is presumably strong enough to make the same tyrant judgment within BM. Imposing a straight vote for Villar is somewhat part of this manipulative nature of Ocampo. That is, despite the resistance of more than half of BM’s members.

Sooner or later, the Villar-Ocampo tie up will be relegated a political sham dished out to simply gather votes enough to get either of them on the political wheel. The 2 million votes that seemingly got these two together would also be the source of their early electioneering’s downfall. Inevitably, these 2 million voters would sound the gong against the NP-MAKABAYAN (Makabayang Koalisyon ng Mamamayan) that involved a discrete vote buying of Sen. Villar. MAKABAYAN that is pushing the campaign of Ocampo is nonetheless behind the collusion and is quite the one forcing both camps to make use of the 2 million command votes coming from various militant groups like Bayan Muna.

Regrettably, the renowned NP is easily taken for a ride after its standard bearer grew weary of his evocative graft inquiries. The desperation of Villar had to be NP’s Achilles’ heel at this point. This then runs positively to the aims of Ocampo, who by now had been colluding from one Opposition TRAPO to the next in order to muster a formidable bloc of votes that could help him bag a seat in the senate. These two (Ocampo and Villar) are much interested in serving their “best” interest. That is, to include them ignoring the after effects of their uncalled for “friendship”. Perhaps, this plainly explicates how dirty politics works in the first place. For example, a self-proclaimed militant who bent his resolve against TRAPOs in order to get elected, and that of a TRAPO who embraced a staunch critic he would not entirely trust for the sake of scanty vote leverage.

NP swindled by MAKABAYAN while Villar was played by Ocampo.

VILLAR BITES OCAMPO’S BAIT

Bayan Muna Representative Satur Ocampo finally succeeded to create an alliance with Senator Manny Villar as the Nacionalista Party (NP) formally announced the inclusion of the former as part of their senatorial slate for the upcoming 2010 elections. Ocampo had been offering two million guaranteed votes to the presidential candidates in exchange of five cabinet positions and a committee chairmanship in the Senate – it was only Senator Manny Villar who embraced the offer laid by Ocampo.

Who would have thought that Villar would fall for Ocampo’s proposition? Ocampo along with Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño and Gabriela Representive Liza Maza has publicly gone out on the streets to protest against the malversation of people’s funds by corrupt officials, including Villar. Filipino people should be alarmed as former enemies become best of friends because if principles are forgotten for the sake of politics, Juan dela Cruz should wonder what else would be forsaken.

Ocampo’s consecutive terms in the Congress only made him greedy to get hold of a higher position in the government. What could he possibly contribute for his fellow Filipinos? He had been actively seen in different rallies here in Manila as well as to different provinces all over the country. He has been vigorously hosting and supporting different events that would lead to the ruin of the present administration. As a representative, he faced a lot of charges that was exposed from within Bayan Muna. If this is the kind of ruling he had in BM, then it is very possible that he would likely resort to anything if he assumes a seat as a senator in 2010.

In the first place, is Ocampo the kind of senator that people should vote for? Aside from his lackluster performance in decision making, he is clearly associated with the CPP-NPA-NDF. Add that to the existing progress on the created alliance by Ocampo and Villar, this proves their eagerness to get hold of power and try to do anything and everything just to obtain their personal political objectives for the 2010 elections.

Are they the kind of politicians the Filipino people would want to lead the country?

LACSON BABYSITTING THE WHISTLEBLOWERS!

The political babysitting continues for Sen. Panfilo Lacson as he backed-up on ZTE-NBN whistleblowers- Eng. Noel “Jun” Lozada and Joey De Venecia on the two’s bid against their possible incrimination in the multi-million anomalous contract. For some reason, Lozada and De Venecia are “calling a technical foul” on their supposed “knowledge” of the case and wanted immunity on the course of the proceedings. Fearing a so-called politically motivated match that would then be fanned-out by the First Family that would be facing litigation on the opening of the case, Lozada stormed the front pages again looking for another minder.
Lozada and De Venecia, who both claimed they wanted proper courts to address the ZTE-NBN controversy are bound to become the case’s state witnesses. By law this means giving them the ample protection they need like being entrusted on police custody and on the long run possible acquittal on the charges on account that they testify under oath. However, such absolution is to be determined as the proceedings progress. But to be accorded as state witnesses, the two should affirm their hand on the crime, meaning their participation on the case. This explains why their testimonies would hold water on trial. That is, since they have the fitting familiarity to the crime after having colluded with the suspects that made the crime possible.
State witnesses agree to the mandate of the law, where it includes putting them not just on the witness stand but on the list of investigated suspects. This is simply how the system works. Clear conscience is the fitting element needed to exonerate state witnesses from the case and this is neither dictated nor awarded. Only the courts have the capacity to decide “who”, “what” and “when” state witnesses could steer clear of the case’s consequential punishments.
So why then would the procedure bend for the sake of Lozada and De Venecia? If the two are on the “messianic” mission of unraveling the truth and nailing red-handed culprits on the anomalous contract why would they be too “sensitive” and nonetheless “cynical” on being investigated on their involvement in the case? Are they afraid of an in-depth investigation that could blow-up negatively on their end? Besides, it is known to most that the two are sidetracking the case for their own political interest that include running for senatorial seats this coming election. Were they simply generating public attention and name recall as they try to exploit the anti-PGMA atmosphere?
Or else, why would Lacson concur on giving Lozada and De Venecia a safe distance from the case? Yes, it was known fact that the ZTE-NBN bloated out of Lacson’s doings to include the coming out of both Lozada and De Venecia. The senator was the one who actually “squeezed-out” the confessions of the two against the First Family and served it to the public for an open ridicule. As he formerly said before, the two’s testimonies were of nothing less than the truth and should be given due interest by the courts. But why then is he stalling the procedures of the case? Why is he too afraid to test the validity of Lozada and De Venecia’s statements? Does this mean that Lacson himself doubts Lozada and De Venecia, and that he fears their lies would backfire on him?

ELECTION WATCHDOGS’ DECEIVING MOTIVES

Campaigning for a clean and fraud-free election is everybody’s part as we partake and demonstrate our rights in the coming 2010 national and local polls. Should we make a call or initiate what must be done for the betterment of this country and its people, it is everyone’s individual concern. Mostly, during or before the election period, many people and different groups will appear and surface their call for a fraud-free election or better yet remind the people to watch over their votes, which is obviously a laying signs of distrust to the government’s campaign for an honest and clean selection.

The Boto mo, Ipatrol mo!- a campaign flagship of a leading network station in the country, that soars and continue to persuade as it goes over the television screen from time to time is one good example. Perhaps, it was an effective drive to sway and set the minds of the people given that they got the access and machineries in many ways to dictate the “should be’s” in preparation for the coming elections. In a way, it is indeed a good show of involvement and participation in our country’s political facet but unfortunately, is it also one good reason why people never get to trust every aspirants running in different government positions. Worst is, people were already expecting of a filthy and fraudulent elections on 2010. As it was instigated by that certain station that on the other hand, frequently air various political ads of their supported candidates, it cannot be denied that such movement was just a front to conceal what really capitalists are up to.

It is but an upsetting truth that what the Boto mo, Ipatrol mo has is just a mind-conditioning propaganda that pressures the people. Instead of helping to promote oneness and solidarity, the movement

ARE NBN WHISTLEBLOWERS AFRAID OF TRUTH?

What is there to be afraid when one believes he had done nothing wrong? When one speaks of truth, logic dictates that fear is not an option. So why on earth is NBN-ZTE “whistleblowers” panic over a thorough inquest that would legally bind them among the culprits they say they help “unmask”?
Eng. Noel “Jun” Lozada and son of former Speaker of the House- Joey de Venecia III, who both claimed they wanted to spill the beans on the multi-million graft of the First Family are now banging the alarm gong as legal inquiries bind them on the crime. Thus, this gives the public a reason to raise their eyebrows especially when Sen. Panfilo Lacson who had been a staunch Oppositionist is seemingly backing them up. And the confusing piece on this puzzle is that why would Lozada and De Venecia ask that the legal proceedings bend to fit their interest?
As state witnesses, (like how Lozada and De Venecia wanted to be) one must accept the truth that he is by far part of the crime done. Else, he would not have the vantage point of being able to account details of crime that would be viable on the success of the proceedings. This then would require a thorough inquest where the state witnesses would not be immune for reasons that he made the first squeal. Interestingly, this is what Lozada has been crying in anguish on nationwide television. The truth-seeker wanted to steer clear of the crimes he in fact helped made possible (that is as we give weight to his testimonies).
Lozada and De Venecia formerly disclosed that they knew of the anomaly and was among those seating on the front row and made it possible. This is frankly the reason why the public actually cut them some slack. We listen to them because they knew of the controversy first hand and not because we think they are entirely innocent. In fact, it is safe to assume that these guys ganged-up on another because they were not given an even chunk of the loot. This idea remains true and holds water for the former “golf playmates” – Lozada, Neri and FG (First Gentleman).
So why should the Senate floor, particularly Sen. Lacson ram the issue of a government conspiracy against graft witnesses? The good senator knows how the proceedings work and he even wanted the two to be held under protective custodies as “state witnesses”? Or else, why would the former PNP Chief question how litigations are done in the folds of the law when he by far was among those who help institute the leverages use to lure witnesses out and have them pin-down culprits?
The only thing that separates a whistleblower from the red-handed suspects like in the ZTE-NBN anomaly issue is that they tend to clean their names and pinpoint others to take the fall. More often that not, they blow the whistle on someone’s command in exchange for a much better offer than his actual share of the graft pot. And with someone’s help, he weaves facts with lies making it “delightfully” tempting for the media to pry on. This is more than money-making and political stunt that whistleblowers ordinarily end-up campaigning for a position the next elections.

And as the turnout of events suggests, Lozada and De Venecia with the help of Lacson are simply making a scene to get people’s attention. They are no state witnesses who came out in public for truth and justice despite the likely imprisonment. Lozada and de Venecia are neither heroes nor martyrs. They simply make-up a bunch of quacks that does TRAPO’s wishes in return for something else.

2 MILLION VOTE-BAIT WORKED FOR SATUR

Is NP Running a Reds’ Flag?

Makabayang Koalisyon ng Mamamayan or MAKABAYAN that pushes for the senatorial ambitions of militant solons like Rep. Satur Ocampo and Teddy Casiño, both under Bayan Muna (BM) had once discussed the agenda of luring winnable presidentiables to actually adopt one of their owns in exchange for their guaranteed 2 million votes. Sadly, the said votes will be forcefully squeezed out from a majority of BM members and its affiliate groups. By hook or crook, Ocampo is going to seat himself in the senatorial floor; even if this means swallowing his pride and prostituting his comrades’ rights.

Others say Nacionalista Party or NP is taking its toll on embracing the Reds for the sake of getting the right amount of votes for Sen. Manuel Villar’s presidency. The unlikelihood of seeing the Ocampo-Villar tandem is more or less buttered by the haunting sting of the C5 graft debacle. Inevitably, the two is out to save each others’ reputations to get a good grip on the 2010 election “hot seats”. Ironically, this had been a doing of a media condoned “electioneering” that help turn “reformists” into TRAPO lapdogs.

NP biting a huge chunk out of MAKABAYAN’s bait is exactly what Ocampo needs to garner an adoptive political Party that could babysit his premature senatorial debut. The Communist idealist (Ocampo) is reliving his iron-hand rule in BM with his worn-out excuse of “for people’s progress”. In fact, BM is stirred with factionalized qualms over submitting to Ocampo’s plan of using them as leverage to get TRAPO’s recommendations or else oppose Ocampo’s bid altogether and have the “opportunist” Ocampo face possible expulsion from the group on grounds of abusive or manipulative authority. If this runs true, BM would be forced to face its members’ resistance including a fuming public.

Ocampo sure knows how to gamble his way on top despite the detrimental consequences that would be banging his militant facade. His unsound judgment on the advancement of his political career is seemingly the deathblow that would drown out his chances of ever receiving the people’s favor. Like the lapdogs he claimed to have fought against, Ocampo himself is lurking behind the mask of “political gimmicks” that shape detestable TRAPOs. He is but another camouflaging wolf that runs among the meek sheep, and as he reveals his fangs and claws buttfired presidentiables like Villar is likewise bared.

NP with the billionaire-Villar is undoubtedly well-equipped with just the right campaign machinery for 2010. However, with the declining public favor on Villar a guaranteed 2 million vote would nonetheless be a tempting offer that NP would be pretty insane to refuse. Besides, if militants like Ocampo change their views and decide to jump ship, TRAPOs like Villar would no less get the better end of the collusion. Militants showing leniency over a suspected grafter like Villar would ofcourse weaken the qualms surrounding the NP candidate. This way NP could sponge down Villar’s name and hide behind Ocampo’s BM.

But to whatever extent this awkward political maneuvering between Ocampo and Villar foretells, it is most certain that 2010 would be filled with political Parties desperate enough to rely on Communist honchos to stay in power.
