The race to being the next president is getting tougher as the May 2010 elections is fast approaching - less than 100 days to be exact. Latest survey results revealed that the gap between Liberal Party’s standard bearer Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Nacionalista Party’s Sen. Manny Villar is only eleven percent which is quite small compared to previous results. This might be the reason behind why Aquino blurted out that surveys are not reliable at all.
Aquino finally realized that something was wrong in his answer regarding the question on survey results during a presidential forum dubbed “Kilalanin: A Presidential Forum” held at the De La Salle Zobel School last January 9, 2010. He clearly states that surveys are only bought in Quiapo. It is just like saying that surveys are not credible and should not be honored.
Due to his wrongdoing, Aquino clarifies that Social Weather Station (SWS) is not part of those institutions being referred to as “incredible surveys” as stated in the forum. He even wrote a letter to SWS President Mahar Mangahas apologizing and re-affirming that the institution is competent in their services. A letter believed to be made by the political supporters of Aquino as a cover up for his lack of common sense.
The failure of Noynoy to think before he speaks undoubtedly brings him to dig his own grave. This eventually brought a lot of criticism from his detractors. Obviously, the voters had a gist on Noynoy’s own perception towards the questions being raised to him. His apology letter to the SWS is a preventive measure in the polling organization in case the great contender, Villar, outrun the number one rank of Aquino.
In a recent interview, he was asked: If he wins the presidential seat, will he allow to be dictated by the people around him? He did not answer the question and instead he blurted out his ideas on how to handle the country. This only proves that he immediately learns his lesson.
